WNBA 2002 All-Star Game
It's not to early to be thinking All-Star. The WNBA is busy setting the stage for 2002 season and the 2002 WNBA All-Star game. The top players from the Eastern and Western Conferences will square off in the Washington, D.C., on Monday, July 15. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
Girls and Women Day
As part of National Girls and Women Sports Day, Monarchs guard Ruthie Bolton visited Hubert H. Bancroft Elementary School in Sacramento.
Hoop-It-Up Victory!
Hedo Turkoglu hit an OT jumper at the buzzer as Ticha Penicheiro and the Kings topped the hometown Sixers in the inaugural 989 Sports All-Star Hoop-It-Up competition at NBA All-Star Saturday Night in Philadelphia.
Youth Clinic
Head Coach Maura McHugh, Assistant Coach Michele Cherry and Ruthie Bolton hosted an Interactive Clinic in conjunction with the WNBA's and the NBA's Youth Basketball Support Initiative.
Junior All-Star
Hayley Hollenga, a seventh grade student at Sacramento's Bear River School, was selected as a member of the Jr. WNBA National All-Star Team and attended NBA All-Star 2002 representing the Sacramento Monarchs.

Penicheiro Wins MVP of Italian All-Star Game
Monarchs guard Ticha Penicheiro wowed the crowed at the 19th Italian All-Star Game held in Parma, Italy, last month with a number of fancy passes, earning her the honors of MVP. Yolanda Griffith led the "Foreigners" with 19 points.
