Griffith Shines at All-Star Game
For the fifth consecutive time the West defeated the East, 84-75, in the 2003 All-Star Game and Sacramento Monarchs forward Yolanda Griffith was a major contributor to the West’s victory.

Griffith scored half of her 14 points during a 14-0 burst with less than 12 minutes remaining in the game, including a lay-up off a behind-the-back pass from Teasley. With three All-Star games already under her belt, Griffith added 14 points (2nd on the team) and seven total rebounds (team leading) to her already impressive 37 points, for 51 total All-Star points, and putting her total All-Star rebounds at 29.

After the game Griffith commented, “I think it was an exciting game. I think the best All-Star Game so far, because the East competed with us tonight. They were determined to win. I think the West is the best. That’s all I’ve got to say. (Laughter). It was an exciting game and I hope the fans enjoyed it. It was on ABC. Can’t ask for anything else.”

Prior to Saturday’s game, in what’s fast becoming one of the best traditions of the WNBA All-Star Friday, the Western Conference squad held another impromptu dance party at half-court at the conclusion of Friday’s practice. Though some players were reluctant to get their groove on, Griffith found the beat and made the crowd go crazy!

Overall Griffith had a great time. Representing Sacramento and the Western Conference with pride, Griffith showed the WNBA that she really has something to write home about.
