JIM KOZIMOR
Play-By-Play
Jim Kozimor returns for his ninth season as the Monarchs radio and television play-by-play announcer after serving in the same capacity with the Houston Comets. Kozimor is host of the team’s weekly radio talk show, “Monarchs Talk” and can also be heard on his own nightly talk show, “The Jim Kozimor Show” on Sports 1140 AM KHTK.
Kozimor works on a variety of events for Comcast SportsNet as play-by-play announcer for college and high school football, college basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, water polo, lacrosse and World Team Tennis. He also hosts the weekly Oakland Raiders Press Conference Live show.
Kozimor joined the Sacramento Kings broadcast team prior to the 1998-99 season, hosting the organization’s radio pre-game, post-game and halftime shows as well as handling host duties for the team’s weekly radio talk show, “Kings Talk.” In 1998-99 he served as the television color analyst for the Kings. Kozimor has also served as the side-line reporter for Kings games for the past five seasons and also hosts House Party Live, the warm-up and wrap-up shows, on Comcast SportsNet West the past four seasons.
Prior to his tenure in Houston, Kozimor spent two years as the play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia 76ers (1992-94) and two seasons as a sideline reporter and fill-in play-by-play announcer for the Golden State Warriors (1989-90 to 1991-92).
Before joining the NBA ranks, Kozimor spent time working in Chicago at WMVP, co-hosting a sports talk show. Kozimor served a three-year stint as the play-by-play voice of the San Jose Jammers and La Crosse Catbirds of the Continental Basketball Association. He also has spent time as a television play-by-play announcer for the NBA Summer Pro League, NCAA Division I football and basketball, and Triple-A baseball.
Kozimor began his broadcasting career in college at Michigan State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communications. A native of Chicago, and a huge Cubs fan, he finished two Chicago Marathons, and completed two triathlons this past summer. He resides in Sacramento with his wife, Sandra their three-year-old daughter Addison and one-year-old twins Ava and Sasha.
KRISTA BLUNK
Color Analyst
Krista Blunk returns for her 11th season as the color analyst for the Monarchs broadcasts. Her first season with the Monarchs was in 1997, which also marks the very first WNBA season. Since joining the Monarchs 11 years ago, Blunk has Co-Hosted “Monarchs Talk” on Sports 1140 AM KHTK and has been a WNBA Playoffs analyst for both NBA TV and Oxygen.
In addition to working with the Monarchs, Blunk worked this past year as an analyst for the Kings House Party Live on Comcast SportsNet. She spent the last seven seasons as an analyst and reporter for the women's NCAA basketball Tournament with ESPN, Westwood One and NCAA Productions. Blunk works with ESPN, Fox Sports Net, Comcast SportsNet, the Mountain West Conference and CSTV, for men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball regular season and NCAA Tournament coverage.
Blunk got her start in California as the radio and television analyst for the San Jose Lasers of the American Basketball League (1997-99) and as the television analyst for the Stanford Women’s Basketball team (1997-99). Before moving to California, she anchored at the Evansville, Indiana, FOX Affiliate in 1996 and produced and broadcasted for local stations WEVV-TSN (Fox affiliate) and WFIE-TV (NBC affiliate).
Blunk graduated with honors in telecommunications/public relations in 1993 at the University of Evansville where she was a four-year starter on the basketball team. As a senior, she was named the NCAA “Sportswoman of the Year” for her athletic and academic achievements. Blunk also played professionally for two seasons with the Kentucky Marauders of the Women’s Basketball Association (1996) and in Australia (1994-95). In 2004 Blunk, a three-sport athlete and four-year letter winner at Tell City High School, was inducted into the Tell City High School Hall of Fame.
JASON ROSS
Radio Pre/Post-Game/Halftime Host
Jason Ross returns for his fifth season as the Monarchs pre-game, halftime and post-game host. He has been a member of the Maloof Sports & Entertainment team in a variety of capacities since 1994. Ross works as the pre-game, halftime, and post-game host for the Sacramento Kings radio network as well. For the fourth consecutive year he will serve as fill-in play-by-play voice for the Monarchs games on the radio.
Ross currently serves as the sports director for Sports 1140 KHTK AM which is the flagship station for both the Kings and the Monarchs. He is also the play-by-play voice of Sacramento State Football and has held that position since 1997. Ross’ resume also includes a year of play-by-play for the San Francisco Demons during the only season of the XFL.
A native of Southern California, he graduated from UC Davis in 1994 with a degree in rhetoric communications. Jason currently resides in Sacramento with his wife Alva and their son Jackson who will celebrate his fifth birthday in August.
