Joe and Gavin Maloof are building a Monarchs basketball “Court of Dreams” at the Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento on behalf of the Northern California-area Rotary and Sacramento-area Kiwanis Clubs.

This story begins with the WNBA’s Court of Dreams promotion, which rewards the group that purchased the most tickets for any WNBA game in the month of June with a new basketball court donated to the charitable organization of their choice.

Rotary and Kiwanis formed a unique partnership in an effort to win a court on behalf of the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home, a local facility that provides emergency temporary shelter and care to children between the ages of 2 and 17 who have been abused, molested, neglected or abandoned.

Together the groups purchased more than 5,700 tickets to a Monarchs game – just two tickets shy of the group representing the Washington Mystics! And then, true to their family’s legacy of generosity to charities, Joe and Gavin decided to provide a new Monarchs basketball “Court of Dreams” to the Children’s Receiving Home on behalf of Rotary and Kiwanis clubs.

“Local Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs have truly come together to help children in need,” said Joe Maloof, owner of the Sacramento Monarchs. “That commitment to the community is something we share and helps us shine the spotlight on what we already know about Sacramento - that we have the best fans in the world who care about the community in which we live.”

The special presentation of the Monarchs Court of Dreams will take place during the game on Saturday, August 20, when the Monarchs take on the Seattle Storm.
