On Sacramento's defense:
“We have focal points to our defense. I thought we were a little bit late and slow everywhere. We were just slow reacting. Our defense has to be anticipatory. We were at best with them, but we weren’t anticipatory. A lot of times I felt like we were late, and that’s not our defense.”

On the team's play without Kara Lawson:
“She’s a great player. She brings a lot to our team, so of course we miss her a lot.”
On Sacramento's defense: “It wasn’t enough. It wasn’t where it needed to be. I felt that they we very comfortable. Plus, they have good players like Sancho, who’s been playing really well, and Michelle Snow, I just felt that we didn’t do enough.”

On control of the game:
“Houston did a great job on control the game, especially the second half. They came out with more energy than we did. We came out pretty flat, as a defensive team we have to come out with more energy than they did.”
On lessons learned from teammate Ticha Penicheiro:
“I learned a lot. One of the things I had in college was have a lot of assists; here she is the leading assists player. She knows the game very well and how to be a leader. Playing at a different level, I’m learning a lot from her.”

Head Coach Karleen Thompson: On the 9-9 record:
“It really feels good. I am really proud of the players and how they have been fighting to get out of the hole. And now to see some light it is a good thing, so we are excited about it. ”
On today's starters:
“You cannot sit down someone with eighteen (18) rebounds; you can’t sit Sancho down. We need her to continue to get double-doubles. We definitely know that we need Tina also. We tried to go with a bigger lineup and we knew that Tina could play at the small forward position. We just worked it out. We didn’t practice but we did it last year so it wasn’t really new to us. “

Tina Thompson: On the team's current play:
“All of them have been playing well and hard. Different people are getting an opportunity to play a lot more. Sancho managed to play really good but that was not necessarily a surprise. She did everything that she does but just in a longer period of time. I think that it was really great. I was really happy that we continued to get wins to allow us to now be at .500. ”
On the 9-9 record:
“It feels great. There is nothing bad, not a bad feeling in winning at all. The fact that we are back at .500 and continuing to move forward on an uphill climb is definitely a good feeling. Everyone on the team plays hard and contributes in a way that we need.”
