Monarchs vs. Storm - 7 p.m. at ARCO Arena-Monarchs look to Double Up

1) The Monarchs (15-10) look to sweep the regular season series from the Storm (13-14) in their third matchup of the summer.

2) The Storm has lost six of their past eight contests. And the less than favorable news continued Thursday as the Storm announced that Janell Burse will undergo surgery on Tuesday, August 14, to repair damaged ligaments in her left wrist. Her status for today's game is day-to-day.

3) Nicole Powell's career-high 29 points on Sunday were overlooked due to Seimone Augustus' career-high 39 points and the Lynx win. Tuesday, Powell followed up her offensive onslaught with 28 points, only to be shown up by Lauren Jackson's 30 points, but Powell was able to walk away happy as the Monarchs defeated the Storm in a 78-74 victory on the road.

4) The key to the Monarchs last win was the glaring differential on the offensive glass. The Monarchs nearly equaled there defensive rebounding output which is practically unheard of in rebounding statistics. The Monarchs won the overall glass cleaning effort 40-31. More impressively, their 17 offensive rebounds was 13 more than the Storms four and only six short of tying there 23 defensive boards. Rebekkah Brunson paved the way for Monarchs rebounding success as she tallied NINE of her 10 boards on the offensive end!

5) Tonight marks the Monarchs only home game for the next nine days. Following their bout with the Storm the Monarchs take to the road for a four-game six-day road trip. Eight of the Monarchs final nine games are against teams that would qualify for the playoffs if they were to begin today.
