1) The Monarchs (1-0) battle the Silver Stars (0-1) in the second game of the first-round best of three series in the 2007 WNBA Playoffs.

2) The Silver Stars have lost four consecutive games and looked mystified by the Monarchs sweltering defense Thursday night. The Monarchs held the potent Silver Stars guards, Becky Hammon and Shanna Crossley, to a combined 19 points on seven for 24 (29.2 percent) shooting from the field and seven turnovers.

3) The Monarchs displayed harmony with the faithful Sacramento Monarchs fans by sporting M is for Monarchs temporary tattoos Thursday night. As they have done in previous playoff runs to demonstrate their unity, Yolanda Griffith believes the team will continue to wear the M throughout the 2007 WNBA Playoffs.

4) The Monarchs intensity from game one can't even be likened to that of a sports car shifting into sixth gear. The poise, determination and efficiency of all moves the Monarchs made defensively and offensively was proof that having playoff experience can't be understated. The Monarchs final margin of victory, 21 points, was a more accurate sign of how many gears higher the Monarchs were than the Silver Stars.

5) The Monarchs shot (32) and made (28) twice as many free throws as the Silvers Stars. The Monarchs completely obliterated the opponent on the interior. The Monarchs outrebounded them by 19, outhustled them on second chance points by 11 and outscored them in the painted area by 14.
