Hello All!
I am laying here stretched out on the couch (albeit with my feet off the end) watching the Suns- Spurs games, and I remembered I promised the Sacramento Fans I’d write again! So here I am! Before I go back in time let me tell you a little bit about the present. Camp started yesterday and it was A-OK! It was great to see all my teammates and nice to meet the rookies. I’m starting to learn names, but for the most part, their universal names will be rookie. Good job, Rookie. Great shot, Rookie. Nice pass Rookie. See? That was three different people I was talking to! (LOL) I do however miss my girls who are overseas so if you’re reading this you guys need to hurry up and come back! I miss you.
Now, let’s go back in time. I have to get my time in to talk about my wedding because Kara will be back soon and she’ll monopolize all the “wedding-talk space.” I don’t know how to answer the question, “So, how’s married life?” Buddy and I decided the next person who asks us that we’ll say, “It’s alright. I mean we’re in it, we’ve got to make the best of it now.” Or, “You win some you lose some!” HAHAHA! I’m cracking up right now. Married life is great, especially since I married my best friend. That’s my dog! Although we got engaged after six months and married six months later, we were friends for four years before that. You know a man loves you when he sees you with jacked up hair, in sweats and no make up saying the water’s in the kitchen. We have a lot of fun together. I miss him like crazy right now since he can’t be here 100% because he has his own obligations.
Okay, more wedding details. Two weeks before I got married I decided to try on my dress; you know, to see where I was physically. One of my best friends and bridesmaid, Tiffany was there to help me. When she saw me in it she was like, oh my gosh it’s beautiful. Only, I couldn’t really enjoy her admiration; I couldn’t breathe! You see, after the final fitting I decided to up my back and shoulder weights because I figured that’s what everyone would be looking at while I was on the altar. I guess I went overboard. Oh my gosh, I could not breath and I started to feel faint. Tiffany said take it off now! She said my face started to look really pale. While I was taking it off she went to get me some water, which helped a little bit. But I had to lie down for a while. I didn’t lift again until about three weeks after the wedding just to be safe. By the wedding, I was fine. I wanted a good mix. I wanted to look fit, but not like I was Hulk Hogan walking down the aisle.
The wedding day came so fast. I barely slept the night before because I was so excited! (Plus, my husband was having his bachelor party.) (LOL) The morning of the wedding I was up before anyone in the house so I had some time to pray and thank God for such a wonderful blessing. Then, time took off. Malcohm came over to do my hair. (Which he whipped into a beautiful piece of art.) Then off we went to the church. Although, on the way to the church, I broke down crying and had to pull over to let my mother drive. I think I might have had a minor panic attack! It was more so because we were rushing and I do not like rushing.
Here is a quick moment of advice: if you are about to get married, do not watch movies entitled, “Why Did I Get Married?” Buddy and I went to see that movie about a month before our wedding. When you are in that moment of love and nauseating bliss, you do not want to see that all the couples in the movie have marital problems. Let us find that out ourselves, about three weeks into our marriage! (LOL)
Okay that’s about it for now I’ll finish this up in the next one, okie dokie? I still want to tell you all about the wedding night! See ya! I’m going to ice.
I'm back! As you can imagine, after getting married, I am extremely busy. Wow! Between working at Habitat for Humanity, working out in the gym/weight room, studying for my master’s classes, choir practice and being a wife, I am EXHAUSTED! I am actually anticipating the WNBA season for a break. As many of you know, there is nothing like the excitement of doing something you love to do. As much as I love Habitat, I know now that the blessing of playing basketball for a living, however short, is just that, a blessing! (For those of you who DON'T know the feeling, God bless you!!!)
My wedding, wow! What can I say, a dream come true. Well, not even a dream come true because I never really dreamed of my wedding day. I couldn't wait to get married, but I didn't know what the day would encompass. But I can say it was a dream! The best part of the day was marrying my sweetie pie (I know, gag gag gag), but it's the truth. Here's some advice to those of you who are getting married. Don't let flowers, dresses, videos, photographers, etc. overshadow the reason for the occasion. I can say a highlight from the ceremony was when Buddy sang to me. Well, that's what everyone else said. I'm like, what about how gorgeous I was??!! LOL -- just kidding. I can't wait to get the video back so I can relive it again.
But let me tell you, the week leading up to the wedding, I was a wreck. Not because I was nervous (I actually never got nervous, okay I'll get back to that), but because there were so many last minute things to do. My family really came through for me on that. So did all my friends. They alleviated a lot of stress. Still, I hardly even slept that weekend, and I started seeing things. One day I was walking out of my sister's house and I jumped because I thought there was a dog there…it was actually the water hose! Yeah, I went delusional. Okay, that's enough for now. I think I'm going to make this a two-parter. In the next part, I'll go more into detail about the wedding and wedding night!!! YEAH!!!
Okay, until then - Blessings! Adrian Williams-Strong
