Scholanda Robinson gives SacramentoMonarchs.com the scoop on playoff seeding, Crystal Kelly and more. Plus, an update from Rebekkah Brunson.
How important is Playoff seeding?
"I haven't really thought about it. I think our main concern is getting in. So I don’t think we really care where we’re seeded. We just want to play well enough to get in, and we think if we can get in that we can make some things happen."
In your opinion, what's been the key to Crystal Kelly's strong play lately?
"I think she’s played well all season. It just so happens that Rebekkah (Brunson) has been hurt so she’s had to start and play a few more minutes than she usually has to play. So it may look a little more impactful, but I think she’s been doing that all season. I think she’s a great player, super smart and she just plays really well for a rookie. She’s really composed and she goes out there and works hard."
What’s the most important thing the team needs to focus on during the last five games of the season?
"Just being ourselves, executing our game plan, not falling into another team’s style and just staying on course with what we do and playing hard defensively. We’re a defensive team and we have to go out every night knowing that we have to lay it all out defensively. That’s what we have to do and I think we’ll be successful."
The Monarchs helped unveil a new Reading and Learning Center in Lincoln on Tuesday, what do you take away from community events like that?
"I think humility. It’s just something that’s so humbling to be able to do for the community because you know it makes a huge impact and you know those kids look up to us. And for them to see us out doing stuff like that in the community, I think it makes a positive impact and sets a good example."

How is your knee feeling?
"It’s coming along well. The knee feels good. It’s been acting the way it’s supposed to. The stress fracture is taking its time, it’s going a little slow, but right now it feels good. I’m comfortable with it. I’m just going to come in here and practice and hope I keep progressing."
