"Shhhhhhh!"

The noise and warning was unmistakable.

Clutching her popcorn, Rebekkah Brunson was being scolded.

The Monarchs All-Star forward talked during the opening scene of "Under the Sea 3-D" at the IMAX theater in downtown Sacramento, and the group of children in front of her was unimpressed.

Realizing quickly her actions upset the youngsters in front of her, Brunson apologized.

"Sorry!" she exclaimed in hushed tone.

The kids didn't have time for apologies, though. Narrated by Jim Carey, "Under the Sea 3-D" had begun, and their minds were filling with the exciting underwater world that seemingly engulfed the audience whose 3-D glasses made it feel like a giant oceanic fish bowl.

"I've been snorkeling before and I was a little nervous then, so I'm glad I got to watch this movie without actually being in the water with all of the fish and snakes," Brunson said with a laugh. "But I like watching stuff that's like on Discovery Channel, so I enjoyed it and it was educational."

An avid moviegoer, Brunson suggests the film to the crowd that quickly let her know whose turf she was on when the movie began.

"I would recommend this to children," Brunson said after the 45-minute film ended. "It was more of kid movie but it had an educational purpose, and it kind of sneaked the environmental perspective in there for the parents.

"It was kind of like 'Finding Nemo' up close and personal."

Aside from the importance of keeping quiet in the theater, Brunson learned how underwater life and basketball are correlated.

"The cool thing, if you want to look at it from a basketball perspective," Brunson said. "It just showed how every type of fish (or creature) is interdependent. They all had to work together to help each other. Like, there was a fish that had to look out for the shrimp but the shrimp dug the hole for the fish. And the crab used the jellyfish as shelter. They were all different species or different 'players' but they all depended on each other equally."

As for what "Under the Sea 3-D" creature she'd liken herself, Brunson didn't hesitate.

"I'd be the Great White," she said from the IMAX lobby. "I'm just trying to eat everything in sight!"

Whether she's alluding to popcorn at her favorite theater or rebounds on the ARCO Arena court, the comparison isn't much of a fish story.
