Little girls these days often dream on becoming a professional athlete or a movie star or even a dancer. Earlier this month, Sacramento Monarchs point guard Ticha Penicheiro got to live out a dream as she took part in Sacramento Ballet’s 35th production of The Nutcracker.
Penicheiro welcomed the nearly 2400 member audience of young children and adults to the Saturday Matinee performance. Once the curtain went up, she mingled with other "party guests" as a part of the party scene, the first scene in Act 1, where Clara receives a nutcracker as a gift. Penicheiro had a chance to not only perform on stage with the dancers, but was also able to meet many of them who came by to greet her back stage in her private dressing room. After the first half, Penicheiro joined the audience to watch the rest of the ballet.
