Mercury All-Star guard Diana Taurasi was suspended by the WNBA for two games without pay Saturday for what the league called "inappropriate conduct toward game officials," stemming from a call late in Friday night's loss to Detroit.
Taurasi will miss Sunday afternoon's home game against Houston, as well as a June 30 rematch at Houston.
A team spokesperson said Taurasi wasn't notified of the league's decision until after she left the building following Saturday morning's practice, and was unavailable for comment.
The incident occured in the closing seconds Friday night. Trailing 87-84 with four seconds remaining, Taurasi was whistled for an offensive foul while trying to get open for an inbounds pass. She immediately began screaming and headed toward referee Michael Price after the buzzer.

The two-time All-Star is averaging 19.8 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.
Phoenix (7-7) has lost consecutive home games for the first time since last July, and is already without fellow All-Star Cappie Pondexter, who has missed the past two games with a thigh injury.
Belinda Snell will likely to replace Taurasi in the starting lineup.
