Madison (Houston, TX): Hello Penny!! How is your off-season going? first of all...CONGRADULATIONS for being the #1 pic to Phoenix. I really wish you the BEST of luck there and thanks for all the GREAT memories in Cleveland. What were your reactions when you first heard about the Cleveland Rockers franchise gone? Have a GREAT WEEK!
Penny Taylor: Very disappointed. It was my first team in the WNBA and I was disappointed to here I wouldn't be going back to Cleveland.
jenny, phoenix: Are you nervous coming to a new team? I watched you play last summer with the Rockers and you rocked! Can't wait to see you in Phoenix this summer!
Penny Taylor: Not nervous, I'm very excited. It's fun to come to a new team with new girls. I'm looking forward to a fresh start with my team and getting back into the action in the WNBA.
Tyler (PHX): How do yu like playing in Italy with Bobo and Susanna?
Penny Taylor: (Laughing) I'm with a couple of Phoenix girls and we are becoming good friends here in Italy. It's been very positive.
Barry (Phoenix): Penny, how have Michele Timms and Sandy Brondello influenced you and other young Australian players?
Penny Taylor: So much. Sandy and Timmsy have always been the players I have looked up to in the sport, since my junior career. And now, I've been fortunate enough to become friends with them. I can call them up and talk to them, even though they have been idols of mine in my basketball career.
Desert Rocker 1 (Phoenix): Hey Penny, I'm thrilled you'll be part of the Mercury this season. You had a career high game against this team last year at Gund Arena with the Rockers. What was that day like?
Penny Taylor: (Laughing) I was thinking about that earlier. It's funny how that happened. It's always good to score alot of points, but I was most happy that we won the game.
Carla (Santa Barbara): How did you hear you were the first pick in the dispersal draft and how did it feel?
Penny Taylor: I was really happy. It's a good feeling, a real confidence booster. We had some very good players in Cleveland and to be chosen first is an honor. It was pretty late at night here when I was contacted by the Phoenix staff and it was very exciting.
Cody (Sydney, Australia).: Being away from Australia, What do you miss most? (Besides family & friends)
Penny Taylor: Everything. (Laughing) I'm a bit biased naturally, but I think it's the best country in the world. I miss Weet-Bix and Tim-Tans. I miss driving on the correct side of the road as well, but mostly family and friends.
Alms-LA: Hi, I was just wondering if u heard about Weatherspoon going to L.A., what do you think of that? Have a great season.
Penny Taylor: Thank you. I actually just heard about that last night, talking to Sandy Brondello. I guess that is great for her if that is the career move she wants to make. Not a bad team to play for. She's heading into a winning situation there.
Judy - Milwaukee: have you seen phoenix? and So far, what do you like best about it?
Penny Taylor: I haven't really seen much. I hung out one night in Phoenix with Kristen Veal we went to one restaurant there. I'm looking forward to exploring the area and finding some good spots.
Kevin (Macon, GA): I see that #14 is already taken on the Mercury. What number will you wear?
Penny Taylor: I haven't even thought about that yet. I'll go back to some old favorites. I've worn No. 21 in the past, I'm wearing No. 10 in Italy, but it isn't that big a deal to me.
Sarah Boyer: What's your pregame game routine?
Penny Taylor: (Laughing) Sometimes I listen to music or read a book. I don't really have a routine. You always hear that question, but I don't really have anything that I do before every game.
Chris(Cleveland): Hi Penny. We're going to miss you here in Cleveland, but good luck in Phoenix. What will you miss about Cleveland and what do you think you will bring to the Mercury?
Penny Taylor: I'll miss the fact that it was my first club. It was the beginning of my career. I'll miss the fans very much. There was a certain gentleman there who always brought the Australian flag to the home games, which was really nice for me. The fans were great there and my teammates were terrific too.
Darcy (cleveland, OH): Penny, I hope things are going well with you in Italy... are you excited about possibly playing along side with Diana Taurasi?
Penny Taylor: Yeah, well, I am but probably not as much as everyone else. Being in Italy, I haven't seen as much of her as people in the United States. I'm excited, but I'm a bit sketchy on the details.
Susan(Beloit,OH): HI Penny! I'm from Ohio and was a huge Rockers fan. Still kinda sad about losing the team, but so excited for the opportunity you have in Phoenix. You're definitely my favorite player in the WNBA. Good Luck Penny! My question is, When do you get to spend time in Australia-it always seems like your playing basketball in another country?
Penny Taylor: You're right about that. I rarely get home, I get a few weeks every now and then. My sister got married on Saturday and I was there for that. And I was home for a week during Christmas. I really do miss it.
Melbourne (AUS): Congrats on your selection to the Mercury Penny. What will your role be in the team in 04.?. Best of luck from a fan down under.
Penny Taylor: I will find out these things in training camp. I hope to come in and make a positive impact. I hope I can score and defend and rebound and help our team win. I want to be a player the team can rely on to score and do lots of the little things to win too.
Penny Taylor: A big thank you to the Cleveland fans who wrote in, and for all you new fans in Phoenix I can't wait to meet you and I hope we will have a great season this summer.
