In honor of forward/centers Tangela Smith and Brooke Smith, the Phoenix Mercury is offering a free ticket for the team’s July 1 matchup against the Seattle Storm for anyone with the last name of Smith.
To take advantage of the offer, fans must bring a valid form of identification to the US Airways Center box office prior to tip-off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
“It may be an ordinary last name, but both Tangela and Brooke are extraordinary players,” said Mercury President and COO Jay Parry. “We want to open our doors for the thousands of people who share the last name Smith in recognition of them.”
The Mercury is currently second in Western Conference standings. The team will take on the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday night at the Target Center.
