Scott and Pettis Launch Local Clinics
2007 WNBA Championship Phoenix Mercury player Olympia Scott and assistant coach and former Mercury player Bridget Pettis have founded an organization called Champions Clinics that is dedicated to building champions in our youth through educating and entertaining basketball clinics and motivational speaking events.
Their uncanny ability to connect with children and adults alike, along with their amazing sense of humor and boundless knowledge of basketball, gives them all the fuel they need to power this endeavor. A lofty goal to want to "build champions", yet, Bridget and Olympia believe that they are capable of instilling championship qualities in the children in which they come into contact.
Champions Clinics is of the belief that there are certain qualities that are consistent among champions of different eras. Ten of these include: commitment, skills development and mastery, competitiveness, discipline, enthusiasm, effort, attitude, sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence in themselves, coaches and teammates. Just as Bridget and Olympia worked to instill and enhance these qualities in championship teams they have won on in the past (including the Phoenix Mercury), they will endeavor to do the same with all participants of their events.
The first event of the New Year for Champions Clinics will be a basketball clinic for ages 7-14 on January 5th from 2-4pm at the Pecos Community Center located at 17010 S. 48th Street Phoenix, Arizona 85048 (602) 495-5500. The cost is only $45 per participant which includes an official Champions Clinics camp T-shirt and certificate, along with autograph cards.
