"Our defense was really intense. We get easy shots when our defense is intense like that because we really explode out of it."
"(Taurasi) spreads the court. You can load up the lane on Cappie so she can't get the shots she gets. So when Diana is on the court, she spreads it out, because if you give her a shot she'll hit it." |

"They came off a tough loss last night and we just got back from Atlanta where we didn't show up, either. I think both teams realized it was a pretty important game going into the second half of the season. We're both battling out there and it's fun to play games like that, it really is. It challenges you as individuals and as a team."
"We play so many basketball games you can't put too much hype on a loss or too much hype on a win. I don't think whether you win or lose a game can dictate how you feel."
"I guess (the buzzer-beater) just summed on how we were rolling in the first half. People were doing a lot of good things and if we can sustain that kind of basketball longer than a half, we should be a decent team."
"I just wanted to give (Augustus) a hug, I hadn't seen her in a long time. Actually, I texted her while we were (at the All-Star Game). I told her we missed her in the locker room because obviously she would have been there. She looks great. I can't wait to see her back on the court again." |

"We just need some more time. With new additions, we just have to have time to build chemistry again. I think we will be okay. I really do. I'm just happy we get a break here. As they say, go back to the drawing board."
"I'm sure that (playing back-to-back) had something to do with it. I was tired, so I know the girls were tired. That's part of the game. We have to play in those situations. The good side of this is that most teams, given the situation, would not have come back after being down 30 points. They would not have fought back like this team did. That right there says a lot. That is what's going to keep me smiling until next week. We'll get in there and see what the problem is. I'm very, very pleased with the effort when they got down. Most teams would have given up. They didn't; they fought."
"Oh yes, I think these next five or six games you're going to see a different team. We have time to figure this thing out. Not just me, this team has time to figure it out. We have time to jell... Like I said, we have not had that time to practice and get everyone on the same page. We're fine." |

"Well, I hope so. I think that in this week we can take it and work on some things that we need to work on. Just try to get better. Everything that's happened is happening for a reason and it's in the past. We have to try and learn from it and move on."
"No, I can't really explain (the poor shooting). I don't think we're following the game plan defensively, and that's affecting our offense. I think we just need to stick with it. The shots we took tonight are the same shots we take when we win. We just need to stay focused and knock down the shots and stick to the game plan." |

"I don't think we have too many excuses. We just didn't get the job done. Phoenix just came off a back-to-back just like we did. I think it's also difficult to play two of the best teams probably, Detroit coming off a championship last year, and Phoenix being the number-one team in the West. We just have to take it and learn from it. There's something we're not doing and we have to fix it as soon as possible." |
