The following updates include games played through November 12, 2012.
Krystal Thomas – Jiangsu Phoenix (China): Thomas is averaging 18.2 rebounds while playing for the Jiangsu Phoenix in China. On Nov. 3, she had 16 points and 21 rebounds in a 65-57 win over Yunnan. She followed that up with 18 points and 16 boards in a 73-65 victory over Liaoning on Nov. 6. Her best overseas game to date came on Nov. 10 where she tallied an impressive 20 points and 24 rebounds in a 79-59 win over Shen. Follow Thomas on Twitter and read her second overseas blog here.
Charde Houston – Maccabi Ashdod (Israel): Houston put up 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists in her first game for Maccabi Ashdod, a 74-64 win over Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (Tiffany Hayes) on Nov. 5. She faces former teammate Alexis Gray-Lawson, the Storm’s Alysha Clark and the Fever’s Briann January today as they take on Ramat Hasharon. Sammy Prahalis – Maccabi Ramat Hen (Israel): Prahalis plays her first game today (Nov. 12) against Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (Tiffany Hayes). Catch up with Prahalis via her second blog entry from overseas.
Briana Gilbreath – Lider Pruszkow (Poland): Gilbreath had a nice all-around game against Gorzow on Nov. 3 with nine points, five rebounds and three assists in a 68-54 win. She followed that performance with 18 points and four rebounds in a 62-55 victory over Gdynia on Nov. 10. Follow Gilbreath on Twitter here.
DeWanna Bonner – Nadezhda Orenburg (Russia): Bonner was named Russian PBL Player of the Week after first scoring the winning basket (65-64) against Fenerbahce (Cappie Pondexter, Angel McCoughtry) on Nov. 7 to finish with 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Then, against a loaded Spartak team on Nov. 11 featuring Mercury teammate Candice Dupree, the Lynx’s Seimone Augustus and the Silver Stars’ Becky Hammon, Bonner scored 32 points (13-20 shooting) and grabbed seven boards in a huge 87-75 victory. Bonner is fifth in scoring in the EuroLeague (19.0 ppg), just ahead of Dupree (18.7).
Candice Dupree – Spartak (Russia): Against Uni Gyor on Nov. 8, Dupree scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds in just 17 minutes of play in a 74-56 win. She and Spartak lost a tough game to Nadezhda Orenburg (as mentioned above) on Nov. 11, 87-75. Dupree scored an impressive 22 points in the game on 10-11 shooting. Dupree currently ranks fourth in the EuroLeague in FG% (61.5).
Diana Taurasi – UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia): Against the USK Praha (Kia Vaughn, Rebekkah Brunson) on Nov. 7, Taurasi scored 25 points (8-14 shooting) to go along with five assists in a 78-71 win. UMMC then won big over Spartak Noginsk on Nov. 11, 91-45. Taurasi continues to lead the EuroLeague in scoring with 25.0 ppg and 3-pt FG’s made (7), is eighth in FG% (55.6), and fifth in assists (6.0).
Dymond Simon – Piestanske Cajky (Slovakia): Simon’s team beat the BKZ Left 101-63 on Nov. 10. They currently sit at 9-2 and are tied for second place in the Extraliga standings.
Lynetta Kizer – KB Stars (South Korea): Kizer’s team picked up wins over One FX (56-54) on Nov. 4 and S-Birds (64-63) on Nov. 8, but fell to Bichumi 57-53 on Nov. 11. They currently sit at fourth place in the WKBL with a record of 4-5. Follow Kizer on Twitter here.
Nakia Sanford – Woori Hansae (South Korea): Sanford’s team picked up victories over Winnus (72-56) on Nov. 5 and S-Birds (74-52) on Nov. 10. They currently sit at first place in the WKBL at 7-2. Follow Sanford on Twitter here.
