Kathy Munro Bio

Kathryn L. (Kathy) Munro is a principal in San Diego-based BridgeWest LLC, a private equity investment company specializing in wireless telecommunications infrastructure companies. With approximately $100 million of assets under management, the BridgeWest group has portfolio companies involved in broadband fixed wireless, communications towers, voice portal infrastructure, semiconductor development and a wide range of other investments.

Formerly, as the Chief Executive Officer, Southwest Banking Group for Bank of America, Southwest region (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas), Ms. Munro was responsible for all business operations, commercial and retail, including $15 billion in deposits, 10,000 employees and 450 branches. She also directed Private Banking and Trust, Business Banking, Marketing and Teleservicing Operations for the Southwest.

Ms. Munro’s 20-year career with Bank of America began at Seafirst Bank of Seattle, where she held a series of executive roles. As a commercial lender, she served as Executive Vice President and Manager of Seafirst’s largest middle market lending division. Later, she became Executive Vice President and Manager of the Retail Systems and Services Division, a group responsible for selecting retail branch locations, defining new delivery processes, improving customer service practices, and implementing innovations such as electronic and telephone banking.

Before joining Seafirst, Ms. Munro was a member of former Washington State Governor Daniel Evans’ administration, specializing in developing long range economic plans for the state.

Ms. Munro serves as a director on the boards of the Pinnacle West Capital Corporation, the holding company for Arizona Public Service and Pinnacle West Energy; and Capital Bancorp, a Michigan-based holding company with 32 community banks. Ms. Munro is also Chairman of Flow International, a Seattle manufacturer of industrial tools. Her past board activities include Tosco Corporation and Central Newspapers, Inc.

Community and trade association activities include the United Way’s National Alexis de Tocqueville Committee, Bank Administration Institute, University of Arizona School of Business National Advisory Board, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation Board, Valley of the Sun United Way Foundation Board and Greater Phoenix Leadership. Past activities have included Campaign Chair for Valley of the Sun United Way, Chairman of the Board, Valley of the Sun United Way and board memberships for Barrow Neurological Institute, the Heard Museum, the Morrison Institute for Public Policy and Downtown Phoenix Partnerhsip. In 1998, Ms. Munro co-chaired the Finance Committee to re-elect Arizona Governor Jane Hull.

A native of Bessemer, Alabama, Ms. Munro holds a B.A. degree in Education and Political Science from Auburn University and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Washington.
