Mercury Re-Signs James for Rest of Season
PHOENIX – The Phoenix Mercury has signed guard Jasmine James to a contract for the remainder of the season, the team announced today. James was originally signed to a pair of seven-day contracts on July 21 and July 28.
In four games with Phoenix, the 5-9 rookie guard has averaged 5.3 points in 11.8 minutes off the bench. She has scored a combined 21 points on 10-of-20 (.500) shooting in those four games, and earned regular minutes playing behind WNBA leading scorer Diana Taurasi and alongside veteran Alexis Hornbuckle.
Phoenix will play the second game of its season-long five-game homestand tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6, when it hosts the Seattle Storm at 7 p.m. at US Airways Center. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 and the first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Brittney Griner bobblehead.
