Mercury Tips Off Fan Appreciation Program
Posted: April 29, 2004
The Phoenix Mercury tipped off their 2004 “We Want To See You” fan appreciation program at Majerle’s Sports Grill and Scoops Ice Cream & Coffee Lounge on Wednesday. The entire roster was on hand with Diana Taurasi, Adrian Williams and Kayte Christensen serving as celebrity waitresses. All tips were donated to Phoenix Mercury Charities.
“It’s fun,” Taurasi said. “Whenever you come out, serve some beers and see the fans, it’s always a good time. We’re enjoying ourselves.
“Whenever it’s for charity it makes the cause that much better and it makes you feel good at the end of the day. We’re getting a lot of money in for the charities and it feels good.”
Phoenix Mercury Charities is the team’s foundation that focuses its efforts on providing support and resources to non-profit organizations, primarily in the areas of youth sports, women’s sports and women’s health.
“It’s really great because it’s a different demographic than we’re used to,” said Christensen. “It’s good that we’re getting out in different kind of locations. I do a lot with kids, so it’s nice to be around adults and try to get more adults involved. It’s just a fun environment to be around with your teammates.”
“We Want To See You” is a program designed to give Mercury fans opportunities throughout the season to interact with the team across the Valley. Check back with PhoenixMercury.com for future events.
“I love doing stuff like this,” Williams said. “The fans actually get you more excited about the season. I can’t wait to play and feel the excitement in the arena, and there’s nothing like Phoenix Mercury fans. I appreciate them taking time out of their schedules to come out here and meet with us. I love the opportunity to meet them, too.
“It’s something that I would do regardless of whether the organization did it, so the fact that the organization does it adds to everything that I love about being here.”
Mercury fans have the opportunity to see their favorite WNBA team in action through all 17 regular season home games with the purchase of a full season ticket plan.
