Phoenix Mercury Selects New In-Arena Hostess
PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury announced today that Kathleen Mascareñas has been selected as the in-arena hostess for the 2007 season. Mascareñas will be emceeing in-game elements including sponsored contests and promotions.
“I know how loyal and energetic the Mercury fans are and I am excited to be a part of that,” said Mascareñas. “When I was approached by the Mercury I thought it would be fun to work in front of a live audience and feed off the energy of the crowd.”
Mascareñas is an Emmy Award winning Journalist with 14 years of on-air television experience. She currently runs Mas Video Productions and is now self-employed as a freelance anchor, reporter, producer and writer. Mascareñas has done talent work for select major corporations and field produced for many national television shows such as America’s Most Wanted and Nightline. She currently co-hosts “We’ve Got Your Game,” a local sports show which airs on KPNX Channel 12 every Saturday at 4 p.m. She is the proud wife of Freddy and mother to Lauren, 6, Katelyn, 4 and Ryan 3.

Winners of a franchise-high seven straight to finish 2006, the Phoenix Mercury look to pick up where they left off led by All-Stars Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter in the record-shattering offense of head coach Paul Westhead. Under the direction of new general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale, the Mercury open their 11th WNBA season on Saturday, May 19 at 7:00 PM at US Airways Center against the San Antonio Silver Stars. The first 5,000 fans in the door will receive a Diana Taurasi replica jersey courtesy of the Arizona Lottery.
