Shop Till They Drop

For some people, going shopping is a necessary evil, while for others it is their favorite recreactional activity. Some have a determined, pre-planned method to get in and out as quickly as possible, and some like to go in not having any idea what they're looking for and take their time trying to decide.

Mercury players shared their shopping methods, as well as their likes and dislikes, as it relates to going to the store.

MERCURY CENTER SLOBODANKA TUVIC

"I like to go shop for shoes. I take a size 12 or 13 shoe, so I like going for them. Right now, I go to Nordstrom’s a lot. I’m doing a commercial here (laughs). I like to go there for my shoes.

"I’ll look online, but I prefer to go see what I’m getting in person. I like to go shopping and see exactly what I’m in for."

MERCURY CENTER ASHLEY ROBINSON

"I love Express. That’s one of my favorite stores to shop at. I just love little girlie stores, going to get a tank top here, a tank top there. But most of the time when I go shopping it’s usually at Express. I like to try on everything. Even tank tops, you have to try on to make sure it goes down long enough and fits right. I take my time when I go shopping. It’s so much fun, especially if you have some money to go shopping, you’re really excited because you get to spend money, get new things. I always love to buy myself presents.

"Sometimes I shop online, but the only thing about that is you can’t try it on. That bothers me because I don’t know if it’s going to look right. Maybe shoes, but for clothes I don’t really like it that much."

MERCURY GUARD NIKKI McCRAY

"I like to shop every once in a while. I’m not really big on fashion, just whatever’s comfortable, that’s what I go with. If I’m going to the mall, I know exactly what store I’m going to and I’m in and out. Very efficient."

MERCURY GUARD DIANA TAURASI

"I’m an online shopper. You can get special sizes, stuff that’s tall and long, so I mostly go online. Gap.com is my favorite. If my teammates go out to malls or places like that to shop, I usually say, `I’m out.'

"I'm a plain person, Gap.com, Luckymag.com... that's where my shopping extravaganza is. I do it online, but sometimes we have so much time, we will go to the mall. Either way is good."

MERCURY FORWARD SHEREKA WRIGHT

"I love to shop. That’s why I have no money right now (laughs). I was cleaning out my apartment at college, and I had tons and tons of clothes. Jeans, shirts, everything. My dad says that’s why I have no money. But if I see something, I’m going to buy it. I told my mom, `Keep all my clothes because I’m going to buy a whole new wardrobe.’ That’s what I did. I love shopping and spending money. That’s why I go to the mall by myself. I don’t go with anybody else. If I don’t see anything I like, I want to leave. That’s why I go with my mom. She doesn’t stay in there and look. I don’t like trying on things. If it looks good, I’ll buy it."
