Phoenix Mercury Sign Barb Farris
PHOENIX – The 2007 WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury has signed forward/center Barb Farris to a two-year contract, the club announced today.
“Barb has a reputation around the league as being one of the top veterans,” said Mercury Head Coach Corey Gaines. “She is a great rebounder and a physical player with championship experience and a strong work ethic. She will give us veteran leadership on and off the court.”
The 6-3 forward/center will begin her ninth season in the WNBA. She played with Detroit from 2000-2005, where she won a WNBA Championship in 2003, and New York from 2006-2007.
The Tulane graduate owns career averages of 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds. Farris has appeared in 233 games with 63 starts in her eight-year career and is currently playing for Athinaikos in Greece.
