Entry One
One game down, thirty one more to go! I am so excited that we have finally started our regular season games. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE training camp and all. Come on now, who doesn’t like 3+ hour practices in the Arizona heat! And who better to tip off against than the Houston Comets? Everyone keeps asking me how I think we are going to do this season and what I think of the upcoming teams we will be mixing it up with and I really couldn’t say. I have to admit that I have never really watched basketball at any level up to this point. In college, as well as at this level I’m sure, it was kind of nice to go into big games and have no clue about the opponent’s big dogs. I think it always gave me kind of an advantage; this way I would play my game and not start off the game in awe of who I was matched up against.
Anyhow, now that we have played our first game against the Comets I can better judge the capabilities of our team. I have to be honest, I really like our chances at a playoff berth this season. I think this team can make quite a run this season. Our game in Houston showed us the things we need to work on, like patience on offense, and showed us that when we work together we can be a very good defensive team. I think once we get our whole team back together, those who are injured and those who still have not arrived from overseas, it will give us a chance to start to gel offensively and get our chemistry going as well. Needless to say I am very excited about the regular season and about having the opportunity to play a number of games at home in the month of June. I haven’t been here long but I’ve been here long enough to know there is nothing like Mercury fans. See you Saturday against Utah. Go Mercury!!!!
