The Phoenix Mercury today signed forward Kayte Christensen to a contract for the remainder of the season, the team announced today.

Christensen started the season with the Houston Comets, where she played in six games, averaging 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game.

Christensen spent her first three seasons, and part of her fourth, with the Mercury, who drafted her with a third-round pick (40th overall) in the 2002 WNBA Draft. Christensen averaged 3.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 103 games with Phoenix from 2002-2005.

Phoenix waived forward Mandisa Stevenson to make room on the roster.

The Mercury battle the East-leading Connecticut Sun on Friday at US Airways Center at 7 p.m.

Led by head coach Paul Westhead, All-Star Diana Taurasi and rookie sensation Cappie Pondexter, the 2006 Phoenix Mercury run-and-gun their way through the team’s historic 10th Anniversary season. Lower-level tickets are on sale now and start $10 per person. For more information, click here or call 602-252-WNBA.
