  • Maya Moore sat out the final game of the regular season for Shanxi on Tuesday, as the Flame fell 52-73 to Beijing to close out their season. Shanxi finished the year 15-7, the #2 seed in the WCBA behind Elizabeth Cambage’s Zhejiang. Moore and the Flame open up the playoffs on Tuesday, January 15, facing off with Phoenix Mercury forward Krystal Thomas and Jiangsu (13-9). Moore finished the season averaging a league-best 39.7 points and 3.9 steals per game.


  • Seimone Augustus and Sparta&K continued their hot EuroLeague play yesterday, putting together a dominating 100-62 win over Uni Gyor. Augustus finished the game with 13 points and four rebounds, one of five Sparta&K players in double figures. She was 6-of-8 from the floor in 15 minutes of play. The win improved Sparta&K to 7-2 in EuroLeague Group play, first place in Group A. They return to the floor next Thursday, January 17 to face off with IMOS Brno in EuroLeague play.


  • After leading Galatasaray to its fourth consecutive Turkish Cup, Lindsay Whalen and Galatasaray fell in EuroLeague play yesterday to CCC Polkowice. Whalen finished with six points, seven rebounds and six assists in the losing effort as Galatasaray fell to 7-2 in EuroLeague group play. They returns to Turkish League regular season play on Saturday, facing off with Tarsus Belediyesi.


  • Monica Wright had a huge weekend for Dandenong (13-3) in Australia, leading the Rangers to back-to-back wins on Friday and Saturday. First, she scored 20 on 7-of-11 shooting against Canberra on Friday night, adding five rebounds, five assists and two steals in 20 minutes as the Rangers put together a dominating 101-62 win. The next night, Wright was even better, scoring 31 points on 9-of-12 shooting, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds and dishing out seven assists. This season, Wright is averaging 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 20.6 minutes per game in the WNBL.


  • Amber Harris and Bichumi edged out Winnus on Monday, 66-65 for its third consecutive win. Harris scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked one shot in the win, one of three Bichumi players in double figures. This season, Harris is averaging 19.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.7 steals in 38.0 minutes per game. Harris and Bichumi return to the floor after a couple of weeks off on Friday, January 25, 2013.


  • Jessica Adair had another solid game for Townsville (9-7) on Friday, scoring 11 points, grabbing six rebounds (three offensive) and swiping six steals as Townsville edged out Adelaide 73-70. Adair and the Fire have this week off before returning to the floor next weekend with a back-to-back against Bendigo (14-2) and Bulleen (7-10).
