Lynx Postgame Quotes: July 23, 2003

Recap | Box Score | Postgame Notes | Game Archive

Lynx Coach Suzie McConnell Serio
"Every time we made a run, they answered. They hit big shots and Taj was tough to defend down low and their guards were hitting from the perimeter, shooting the ball well. It was tough to pick and choose who we left. We tried to help as much as we could, but they capitalized every time. If we turned the ball over, they capitalized; if we made a run, they answered with a basket. They played very well."

Lynx Guard Katie Smith
"Every time that I personally touched it, they doubled and tripled. They made sure I gave the ball up. They just played harder and knocked down more shots. Nykesha and Katie Douglas came out and played well for them; so did Pee Wee. Obviously, one game to another you know to expect different things — and obviously, they were going to do different things. It was just a different game and they obviously wanted it more than we did."

Lynx Forward Tamika Williams
"This time, it was different. I'm used to having 10,000 fans cheering for me, not against me."

Sun Coach Mike Thibault
"Other than a couple of shots, we made her (Katie Smith) work for everything. For the most part, she had to work for every touch she got. We were thinking about box-and-one or -two, but we were playing such good straight man-to-man defense, it was like box-and-one."

Sun Guard Shannon Johnson
"Our team came out very enthused and ready to play. We were kind of embarrassed the way we played the last time we were in Minnesota. We needed a good inside and outside game, and tonight we got it."
