Lynx Coach Suzie McConnell Serio
"I thought the key for tonight's game was our matchup zone. I just thought defensively we did a very good job matching up on shooters and taking them out of their rhythm. They hit big shots against it, but they were scoring against our 'man' as well. But I thought we rebounded better out of our matchup, and I thought we ran better out of our matchup."

"We were in our man-to-man, and that's where Swoopes and Cooper are so effective — with the ball in their hands, taking players one-on-one. When we switched to our matchup, that's when they started settling for the outside shot and becoming more passive offensively."

"I feel for Sheryl in that situation, but I give my team credit for not pouting about it. For Michele Van Gorp to make that turnover, and she could've stood and watched her go. But we chased her down and made our presence felt. At least we were there to get that rebound. If we didn't chase her down, it would've been an easy putback in that situation. We talk about playing through our mistakes, and Michele Van Gorp did."

"I think my mouth dropped wide open (on Swoopes' steal), because we talked about taking care of the ball, keeping our passes short, coming to meet our passes and seeing the defense. I just saw Swoopes in that passing lane, and I said, 'Oh, no.' As soon as it left Michele's hand, she knew it. But we found a way to win."

"I thought Udoka was tremendous. That's a player that I talked about at halftime and at the end of the game. She did exactly what they needed her to. She had a great game and made a big difference... All that (Thompson's absence) creates is more shots for Swoopes and Cooper, so choose your poison. They were going to come out on a mission. Knowing the mentality of Houston — of Swoopes, of Cooper — they were going to come in here on a mission, not wanting to lose two in a row."

"Sheri Sam was great. She came up with big baskets when we needed them. She is now offensively coming into her own. She was getting a feel for where her position was, and with each game she's shooting the ball with more confidence. She is looking to create her own shot. I've talked to her about being more aggressive offensively — about not waiting for things to happen. Tonight she was very effective on the offensive end."

"I thought 'T' had Katie (on the last play of regulation), but it was a situation where I think 'T' just wanted to be sure of the pass and wasn't at that point. It was a read she had a green light to read... I looked at their body language when we didn't score to win the game in regulation, and they were a little dejected. I needed to make them believe going into this five minutes that we were going to win this game."

"They're all nailbiters... Too close for comfort for me. I feel like I'm coaching in a state championship game in every game, coming from the high school level. But it's exciting. It's a good sign for us that we're in every game at the end, and three out of four times we've found a way to win."

Lynx Forward Svetlana Abrosimova
"It feels great. It feels like we made the playoffs. A win like this only adds confidence. It shows we can play against anybody. Each game we have to be prepared, no matter who we're playing. It wasn't pretty — it was a pretty ugly win — but we'll take it."

"I knew there were only a couple of seconds left on the shot clock. Before, I had been sitting on the bench with five fouls. So when I went out there I was cold. But it was a couple seconds left, and I had to take it (three-pointer)."

Lynx Forward Tamika Williams
"Teresa asked me before the game if I was nervous. I told her, 'No. I'm thinking about pulling this game out.' I want to get used to it, being in close games and winning. After the game, Coach talked about putting teams away. That's what we need to do in situations like this. We need to build a cushion enough to know what to do in those situations."

"I didn't think we had a great offensive rebounding game, but we played aggressively. We had a lot of second-chance points. Me, personally, I feel bad because I only had three rebounds. I like to get higher numbers than that, but I'm happy... Whatever it takes to win."

Lynx Guard Katie Smith
"It's about finishing it off and making enough plays to win. That game could've gone either way. I'm happy we got it done... The difference was that we made stops. They made big 'threes' and they got to the free-throw line. But we got some fouls on them and pulled it off."

"I missed one (layup), too. If it happens, it's too bad. But that's why we play the game. That was her (Swoopes') shot. That's what she does."

"I just jumped up. Either Tamika or me would've gotten it (rebound). She was right behind me. We had a two-point lead. Once we got it, we just tried to keep the ball and hang onto it until the clock ran out."

Comets Coach Van Chancellor
"The difference tonight was rebounding. We gave up way too many offensive rebounds. I don't know what went wrong. We've always been a good rebounding team... We're just not into it. All I know is that we have a long way to go."

(on Swoopes' missed layup in overtime)
"These things happen. Everyone misses a layup now and then."

Comets Forward Sheryl Swoopes
"It's a matter of time for us to find the chemistry. From Day One, we haven't had everyone really together. We haven't had all of our starters... We've had to really adjust to playing with different people and a different style of playing. Right now, I think we're probably struggling more defensively than anything else. I think it's only a matter of time before that comes."

"We just never could get into any rhythm. Offensively, we just couldn't find our shot. We really weren't hitting anything from outside... Typically we see a zone, and our eyes kind of open up because we have some great shooters on this team. Tonight, for whatever reason, for me personally, I could never get into any kind of rhythm offensively."

"I had two crucial turnovers toward the end of the game. Even in our last game against Connecticut, we had some bad turnovers at some crucial times. That's something we don't typically do. But it's still early, and obviously we've got a lot of things to work on. Obviously, not having so many turnovers is one of them. But I'm not really worried about it... We know we've got to get better right now. We can't wait until the playoffs come and turn it on then. We know we've got to get a lot better, and I think we'll get there."

Comets Guard Cynthia Cooper
"We felt like the momentum was in our favor. We just wanted to play hard. We wanted to play good defense in the overtime period... This is a tough loss. I felt we played well enough to win, but it seemed like they just wanted it more. They just never gave up. They just kept fighting and fighting... We had a few too many turnovers, especially in overtime. I think that was probably the difference."

"Life must go on. The season goes on. It's easy to bounce back. We haven't been in this situation too many times, but the key is to get back up on that horse and try to ride it."
