Minnesota improved to 6-1 on Saturdays in 2003. The Lynx are 3-1 in the second game of a back-to-back this season. Minnesota has one back-to-back series remaining (Aug. 20 at Phoenix, Aug. 21 at Los Angeles).

Minnesota guard Katie Smith had a game-high 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting in 39 minutes. She also made 12-of-14 free throws to seal the game for the Lynx.

Smith (6) and guard Teresa Edwards (4) combined for 10 free throws in the final 1:15, breaking a 67-67 tie and giving the Lynx the lead for good. Edwards finished with nine points and seven assists.

Sacramento took its biggest lead at 66-56 with 6:18 remaining before the Lynx went on a 21-7 run to close the game.

Forward Sheri Sam came off the bench for a season-high-tying 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting.

The Monarchs' DeMya Walker tallied her first double-double of the season with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting and a season-high 12 rebounds.
