Recap | Box Score | Postgame Quotes | Game Archive

The Lynx improve to 7-6 on the season, moving into a tie for second place in the Western Conference with Seattle (7-6). Houston is just a half-game out of second at 7-7. The Lynx and Comets meet for the third time this season on Tuesday night at Compaq Center.

Minnesota has never lost at the MCI Center (4-0). The Mystics, however, have never lost at Target Center (3-0).

Sunday's victory kept Minnesota perfect in weekend contests this season. The Lynx are now 3-0 on Saturdays and 2-0 on Sundays. Minnesota has also gone 5-1 with one day of rest or less, compared to 2-5 when they've had 2+ days off.

Minnesota improved to 3-3 away from Target Center, just the second win in their last nine road games against Eastern opponents. After Tuesday's game at Houston, the Lynx' next three road opponents will be teams from the East.

The Lynx' current three-game winning streak is the second-longest in franchise history and the fifth time they've put together at least three straight wins. The team record is five in a row, set June 5-17, 2000.

Katie Smith hit her first six shots en route to a game-high 19 points. The all-time leading scorer in U.S. women's pro basketball history, she is 88 points away from the 4,000 mark. Smith also needs just 19 points to reach 2,500 in her WNBA career.

Center Michele Van Gorp scored a season-high 17 points, including 15 in the second half, for her fourth double-figure game in the past five outings. Van Gorp's 8.4 ppg ranks fifth among the WNBA's top scorers off the bench in 2003.

Minnesota led 30-25 at halftime, one of five times this season they've led after 20 minutes; the Lynx are 4-1 in those five games. The Lynx are hitting 49.4% in the first halves of their last six contests.

Washington shot 33.9% (21-for-62), Minnesota's best defensive effort of the year and the third straight game they've kept the opposition below 40%. The Mystics' 50-point outing ranks sixth on the Lynx' all-time defensive chart. Minnesota is allowing just 36.4% shooting in its last thee games, all wins; before that, they'd allowed 50%+ in four of their previous six (1-5).
