Lynx Re-Sign Van Gorp, Release Moos


Van Gorp averaged career highs of 4.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in 22 appearances last season.

May 15, 2003 The Lynx today announced the team has re-signed center Michele Van Gorp. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. The Lynx also announced the release of center Carolyn Moos.

Minnesota's training camp roster currently stands at 14, with guard Kristi Harrower expected to join the team on Friday.

Van Gorp, 26, appeared in 22 games (13 starts) and averaged career highs of 4.5 ppg and 2.9 rpg in 2002. She shot 45.6% (41-for-90) from the field and 72.7% (16-for-22) from the free throw line. The 6-6 center recorded a career-high 18 points vs. Utah on July 18, 2002. Van Gorp, who has played with Minnesota (2001, 2002), Portland (2000) and New York (1999), has posted 2.5 ppg in 93 games (22 starts) during her four-year WNBA career.

Van Gorp joins the team's training camp after having spent the offseason playing in Russia. She averaged 13.4 ppg and 9.1 rpg for Dynamo in 14 games of the FIBA Europe Cup for Women competition.

Moos, a former Blake School star and Wayzata., Minn. native, was signed by the Lynx as a free agent on May 2, 2003. In three preseason games, Moos scored nine points and registered six rebounds.

The Lynx open their fifth WNBA regular season on Saturday, May 24 against the Sacramento Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. at Target Center. Minnesota's 11-player roster must be finalized by Wednesday, May 21. The team may also have two players on the Injured List.
