May 11, 2003 The Lynx today announced the team has re-signed center Janell Burse. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. The Lynx also announced the release of center Carla Bennett and guard Lindsey Meder from its 2003 training camp roster. Minnesota's training camp roster currently stands at 14.

Burse, 23, was selected by Minnesota in the second round (28th overall) of the 2001 WNBA Draft. In two years with the Lynx, she has averaged 2.5 ppg and 2.0 rpg in 51 games (two starts). Her 28 career blocked shots ranks fifth on the team's all-time list. The 6-5 center also shares the franchise's single-game blocked shot record of four, which she set on Aug. 5, 2002 vs. Sacramento. Burse spent the 2002-03 offseason playing professionally in Russia (Dynamo) and in Hungary (Diosgyori Kosarlabda Sport).

Bennett, the team's third round (29th overall) selection in the 2003 WNBA Draft, appeared in both of the Lynx' preseason games and finished with six points and five rebounds in 23 minutes. Meder was Minnesota's third round (38th overall) selection in the 2002 WNBA Draft. She spent the entire 2002 WNBA season on the Injured List after suffering a torn right ACL during practice on May 24. In two preseason games this season, the 5-8 guard totaled five points and four rebounds in 19 minutes.

Minnesota completes its three-game preseason schedule on Wednesday against the Detroit Shock in Birch Run, Mich. The team opens its fifth WNBA regular season on Saturday, May 24 against the Sacramento Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. at Target Center.
