Hey Lynx Fans! It’s been far too long since we last connected. Now that the holidays have passed and the free agency period is in full swing, it’s beginning to feel a lot like the off season is winding down and the 2011 WNBA season is just around the corner.
Since the last entry of The Reeve Report, I’ve done a fair amount of collegiate scouting. I started in early December with a trip to NY to catch the UConn/Ohio State match up at Madison Square Garden. The game wasn’t the best for a scout as Maya Moore and the Huskies put a hurting on the Buckeyes. It’s always fun, however, to watch Maya do her thing. Then it was on to New Jersey to spend Christmas with the family. During this time I also had a chance to participate in a very special event in Atlantic City put on by Charde Houston and her Project Y.O.U. Foundation. I was very proud of Charde’s generosity. She no doubt made it a Christmas to remember for the Scott family!
Immediately following the holidays, it was off to California. I had a chance to catch two Stanford games vs. Xavier and Connecticut. Wow did Stanford play well in both of these games. After dropping a couple of road games, they no doubt were on a mission to get back on track. And Stanford is a team that understands protecting its home court. They made Xavier look like a mediocre mid-major team and, as most know, handed UConn its first loss in 90 games. The atmosphere in Maples Pavilion the night of the UConn game was awesome to witness.
January is a good time to update our staff’s thoughts on the projected Top 10 draft prospects. Here’s a Stock Up, Stock Down analysis listed in alphabetical order:
| PROSPECT | STOCK ⇑, ⇓ , ⇔ | COMMENTS |
|---|---|---|
| Adams, Danielle | ⇑ | Top scorer in Big XII; 3-time Big XII POW |
| Breland, Jessica | ⇓ | Injured |
| Dunlap, Victoria | ⇑ | SEC scoring and steals leader |
| Harris, Amber | ⇑ | Extra season at Xavier has been a plus |
| Lavender, Jantel | ⇓ | Hurt by Ohio State’s struggles |
| Moore, Maya | ⇔ | Remains unanimous top pick |
| Pedersen, Kayla | ⇑ | A main cog in the Stanford machine |
| Phillips Ta’Shia | ⇔ | Best rebounder in draft |
| Robinson, Danielle | ⇔ | Solid play for a very good Oklahoma team |
| Thomas, Jasmine | ⇑ | Key component in Duke’s undefeated season |
On the WNBA front, exciting news came out of the league office a few weeks ago – the 2011 schedule has been released! We are looking forward to our opening weekend vs. the Sparks!! Make sure you have your tickets – you don’t want to miss this season opener. Many have asked me who the marquee matchups are on the schedule. My simple answer is Seattle, Phoenix, LA, San Antonio and Tulsa. We want to be the best in the West so these are the games that impact the Lynx the most.
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll check in again soon. Until next time… GO LYNX!
