Seimone Answers

You asked and now the Lynx answer! The Lynx have asked what you want to know about the players, from the players, and many of you had questions for Seimone Augustus. Here is what you wanted to know from Seimone.

July 11, 2006 How long do you think you will be in the WNBA?
Tori from Gramling, Louisiana

Seimone Augustus
Probably as long as my body holds up. Once I feel like I can’t keep up with the players out there I will let it go. I am not one to stay too long, once my body says so, I’m going to let it go.

July 11, 2006 How is the weather up in Minnesota compared to home?
Tangela from Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Seimone Augustus
It actually very nice. It’s not too hot and not too windy. It’s very beautiful here. When we went to Sacramento and Phoenix, I was about to die. I am normally used to weather like that being from Louisiana, but being up here is really a beautiful place.

July 11, 2006 Can you give me some tips on how to become a better basketball player?
Jasmine from Chicago, Illinois

Seimone Augustus
Stay in the gym and work on fundamentals. It’s really easy to get distracted and become an AND One player. They are great players, but not really fundamentally sound. You need to stay with the basics. Work on your shot and get the techniques down, get the footwork down, and getting your ballhandling together. Most importantly have sportsmanship and work well with your teammates.

May 30, 2006 Hey Seimone, what it is like to be an influence in the community?
Emily from Minneapolis

Seimone Augustus
I hope to get out to the community a lot to do the Read to Achieve events that we do where we read to the kids or just going out to nursing homes. I don't really care just so I can get my face out there and show them I care and will help anyway I can.

May 30, 2006 Seimone, we love following you in the WNBA and am soooo grateful for the chance to ask you a question. What is it like to be the #1 pick in the draft and have all the pressure as the #1 pick to have success?
Ashley from Baton Rouge

Seimone Augustus
I don't look at it as pressure, I just take it in stride. It's been happening to me all my life and it's just another stepping stone in my life where I have to deal with a very difficult situation coming into a professional league and being the franchise player of a team and being the person looked to as the face of the team is just something I have to deal with and it comes with the territory of being a great player.

May 19, 2006 I want to know how does it feel leaving your home town and being put in a brand new environment? How do you like being in Minnesota?
Shanna from Staten Island

Seimone Augstus
So far since I've been here I've gotten around a little bit and everyone's been really nice. It kinda reminds me of home with that hospitality where everyone's always smiling and saying hello.

May 19, 2006 How far do you think the Lynx will get in the season being the youngest team in the league??
Krystal from Port Allen, Louisiana

Seimone Augstus
We have a great team here. We have great post players inside and great perimeter players. Hopefully we can put those two components together to make a great team and just go out and compete every night.
