“She can shoot the ball. Number one, you have to play up on her because she’s shooting threes. I wondered if she could hit them, and she is. You have to play up on her. She’s long…She can pull up off the dribble. She knows how to use her body and she’s a fine shooter.”
Houston Coach
Van Chancellor
"When she came out of college, I thought she would be a really good player. I didn't know that she'd be a superstar in year one. You just can't stop her. She came out here and we did everything we could against her and she still got 20 points. I don't have to see what she can do. I already know. Oh Lord, she is absolutely the real deal. She's at the top of the league and she isn't taking all of their shots either."
Seattle Coach
Anne Donovan
“(Augustus) is just phenomenal. It's a kid that doesn't miss a beat. You'd never know she's a rookie in this league. Just great composure and a great level of confidence in her own game. Obviously, her teammates have that same confidence for her. But she's pretty special... Thirty-two points. We didn't come in here with the intention of being able to stop her. But we slowed her down and, I would say towards the end of the game, really put a lockdown on her... She's just a special player. I think the thing that impresses me most about her is that there's no learning curve. She is one of the best players in the WNBA as a rookie, with 10 games under her belt. And usually, rookies have some kind of learning curve. So with her composure and her confidence in herself, it's amazing. Fun to watch.”
Seattle Guard
Sue Bird
“
Seimone Augustus has probably one of the best jump sots in the WNBA The reason being she can just flat-out score. Whether she’s off balance, on balance, two defenders, one defender, no defender, she just finds a way to put it in the net. She might not have the best form, but she’s definitely one of the best scorers.
WNBA Commisioner Donna Orender
“I expect her to bring an unbelievable level of excitement and interest (to the franchise). She is a phenomenal player, it doesn’t take many minutes of watching her play to know she is exceptional and I think she can galvanize a community behind the WNBA.”
Connecticut Coach
Mike Thibault
“You’re talking about a player who when she was young played inside some so she’s got moves around the basket. She’s got long arms. She’s quick. She has the size of a forward but the ball skills of a guard. Her range keeps getting better. You see how quick she is if you make a mistake on her which we did a couple times and she makes you pay for it. When Katie (Douglas) channeled her into the help she struggled a little bit.”

Connecticut Guard
Katie Douglas
“She is extremely long, extremely quick, athletic and has a variety of moves. She is a rookie but definitely doesn’t play like it. She is obviously their go-to player. I just tried to let her catch it a little outside her range and just try and play off that. She is going to be a really good player in this league.”
Washington Coach
Richie Adubato
"(Augustus) is the best player I've seen in a long time. She's Sheryl Swoopes. I wasn't in the league when Sheryl was a rookie. I came in her third year, so I don't know what she looked like.
Crystal Robinson is a great defender -- not a good defender, but a great defender -- and she made about four runners across the lane, jump-hook runners that were
Dwyane Wade shots. Great crossover, pull-up jump shot, strong, quick. She's a great player and is going to be a star in this league. She's going to be a great player."
Detroit Forward
Swin Cash
“We put a lot of pressure on Seimone. She’s going to be a great player in this league. She can make tough shots, and we wanted to make every shot she took tough and always have somebody in her face. We just didn’t want to giver her anything easy.”
San Antonio Coach
Dan Hughes
“(Augustus) is a hard guard, especially when she gets to the line 15 times. That really makes it difficult. I thought we did a decent job throughout the rest of the team. And I don't think we guarded her badly at all, but when she gets to the line 15 times...”
