Flip Saunders Purchases 500 Tickets For Game 1 of WNBA Finals

Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Flip Saunders is showing his support for the Minnesota Lynx as they host the Atlanta Dream in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday, October 6 (7:30 tip). In support of the Lynx, Saunders has purchased 500 upper level tickets for Sunday night’s game and is offering them to fans for free. Beginning this morning (Tuesday) at 8 a.m., the first 250 fans that call in to 612-673-8400 will have the opportunity to sit in the Saunders’ seats for free; limit two per customer.

After finishing off the two-game sweep of the Phoenix Mercury to clinch the Western Conference championship, the Minnesota Lynx have advanced to the WNBA Finals for the third consecutive season, becoming just the fourth team in league history to accomplish the feat (Houston, 1997-2000; Los Angeles, 2000-02; Detroit, 2006-08). Minnesota and Atlanta have met once before in postseason play, with the Lynx sweeping the Dream in 2011 to clinch the first championship in franchise history.

The Lynx (26-8) wrapped up the regular season with the league’s best record for the third consecutive season, becoming just the third team in league history to string together three consecutive 25+ win seasons (Houston, 1998-00; Los Angeles, 2000-02). Entering Sunday’s Game 1, Minnesota owns an overall career 12-2 (.857) record at home in the postseason, the best home winning percentage in league postseason history.

Single-game tickets for the WNBA Finals presented by Boost Mobile begin at just $26 by calling the Lynx at 612-673-8400 or by visiting lynxbasketball.com/lynxtix.
