Naughty By Nature to Play at Halftime of Friday’s Lynx Game
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced today that Friday's game against the San Antonio Silver Stars (7 p.m. tip) will be 90's Night, featuring a halftime performance by Grammy Award-winning hip hop trio Naughty by Nature. The Lynx are encouraging fans to dress up in their favorite 90’s attire for the game, reliving the decade by playing the best 90’s music throughout the game.
Formed in New Jersey in 1989, the trio first hit the charts with the #1 hit "O.P.P" in 1991, eventually winning an American Music Award in 1992 for Favorite New Artist. The group continued their success in 1993 with the track “Hip Hop Hooray,” which reached as high as #8 on the 1993 Billboard Hot 100 and is still routinely played at sporting events to this day. They went on to win a Grammy in 1996 for Best Rap Album, Poverty's Paradise, featuring hit single “Feel Me Flow.” The hip hop stars released four albums throughout the 1990s and seven since their formation, most recently Anthem Inc. in 2011.
Following last weekend’s successful All-Star Game, the Lynx enter Friday’s game riding a franchise-record 16-game home winning streak, holding a WNBA-best 14-3 record this season. Single-game tickets for Friday’s game, and the rest of Minnesota’s remaining nine home games, are still available by calling the Lynx at 612-673-8400 or by visiting LynxBasketball.com.
