Lynx Match Seattle Storm's Offer to Restricted Free Agent Guard Monica Wright
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has matched the Seattle Storm's offer sheet to restricted free-agent guard Monica Wright. Per WNBA rules, the Lynx had until Monday, Mar. 24 to match the offer sheet, which was originally signed by Wright on Mar. 20. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Wright, a four-year veteran originally selected by the Lynx with the 2nd overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft, played in 33 games for Minnesota last season (three starts) and averaged 9.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and a career-high 2.3 assists per game. She played a key role in the Lynx' championship run, averaging 9.1 points on 47.2% shooting in 21.1 minutes per game during seven postseason contests.
In her career, Wright has appeared in 130 games (34 starts) with the Lynx, averaging 8.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She's appeared in 24 games during the playoffs over the last three seasons, averaging 5.6 points in 16.8 minutes per contest.
The two-time WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx kick off their 16th season in Washington on May 16. The Lynx' home opener is May 18, when the Lynx play host to the Connecticut Sun.
