The Lynx fell to the Los Angeles Sparks during the final buzzer tonight at the Target Center losing 77-78.

After what seemed to be an impressive start, and an even more impressive first half, the Lynx just couldn't keep it together to come up with the win. Minnesota's defense held the Sparks to just 4-of-17 shooting in the first quarter, limiting them to 10 points in the frame.

At the half, the Lynx held a 19-13 edge on the glass and led by as many as 17 points in the second quarter. Forward Charde Houston scored 16 points in just 10 minutes of the game, and shot 7-of-9 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from the three-point line in the first half. Rebekkah Brunson tallied 17 points and grabbed an impressive 14 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season, but it just wasn't enough for a win. Brunson said it didn't matter what kind of game she had personally, it only matters what kind of game the team has as a whole.

"It doesn't matter what you do as an individual, a loss is a loss. And right now we need to win as many games as possible," Brunson said. "What I do individually doesn't really matter, it's about the team and it's about winning. Right now we need to come together as a group and figure out a way to get over the small humps and win some games."

Coach Cheryl Reeve was literally speechless after the game, not even offering an opening statement to the media. In a disheartened locker room her team was also at a loss for words and their moods were dismal and gloomy.

The Sparks struggled offensively during the first half, but rallied during the third quarter as they slowly but surely chipped away at the Lynx lead. Tina Thompson showed her true veteran colors as she made the game-winning shot at the final buzzer to clinch the win for Los Angeles.

With the loss, Minnesota is now 11-18. They head to Washington to face the Mystics for their next game on Friday the 13 with tipoff set for 6:00 pm in Washington.
