Throughout the entire game, there seemed to be a lid on the basket for the Lynx.

Minnesota's offensive woes continued Saturday night at the Target Center as they shot just 32 percent from the floor, losing to the Chicago Sky 73-58. The 58 total points was the lowest scoring output of the season for the Lynx.

Although things didn't go their way offensively, the Lynx played arguably their best game on the defensive end holding the Sky to 73 points. The Lynx also won the battle of the boards 39-28.

"I thought our defense gave us a chance to win, but for whatever the reason these types of things happen and obviously we're being challenged," head coach Cheryl Reeve said. "On the day that we give one of our finest defensive efforts, we can't put the ball in the whole. It was just a hard game for us offensively, and we have yet to find the combination of really good defense and good offense."

The Lynx were led by Rashanda McCants and Charde Houston who had 12 points apiece off the bench. Lindsay Whalen chipped in with 11 points, but struggled from the floor going just 2-of-12.

"We put ourselves in a position to win the game defensively, but it's hard to win games when you shoot 30 percent," Whalen said. "Now, we are just going to keep working hard, staying in the gym getting extra shots and having confidence that the shots will fall."

The Chicago Sky were led by the long and athletic center Sylvia Fowles, who scored 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting. The Sky gained an early lead on the Lynx in the first quarter, and kept the lead throughout. Chicago shot 40 percent from the floor, while capitalizing on free throw opportunities, shooting 15-of-18 from the line.

Minnesota now finds themselves on a five-game losing streak, and will have to bounce back quickly as they will face the defending champions of the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday night at home.
