Hey everyone itís Lea B. Each week I will be blogging about the Lynx and all of the cool things that they are up to! I believe most of you are familiar with me as I am the Color Commentator for the Lynx broadcast on FSN. I have been a familiar face in Target Center as I spent 14 years working for the Wolves doing various jobs. I started as an intern working with the summer basketball camps before becoming Corporate Account Supervisor for many years. I eventually moved into the broadcasting department which was wonderful because I majored in Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Minnesota. I started playing basketball in high school and have been involved in with the greatest game on earth, in one way or another, ever since then. If you see me at a Lynx, Timberwolves, Gophers or high school game be sure to say hello and talk a little hoops!

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE:

On draft day as we watched ESPN broadcast the WNBA draft with the Three to See (Griner, Delle Donne and Diggins) I personally felt like our Lynx were being overlooked. All the experts circled around Griner and Turasi dominating in Phoenix. Elena Delle Donne and Sylvia Fowles elevating Chicago to the next level. How LA would be the team to beat with the addition of Lindsey Harding. What about the Lynx and their 27 win season last year? Remember us? We made it to the finals last year! The Lynx returned 7 of 11 players from last season. We are the 2nd youngest team in the league yet we have savy veterans in Whalen and Augustus running the show. Yes the league is stronger this season, there is no doubt about that. But I think the draft day snub was duly noted and provided a little incentive for the Lynx squad.

OUR HOUSE IS A HOME:

I love the fact that the Lynx have so much respect for their home court. They have been perfect at home so far and have a 12 game win streak going at Target Center. Itís the ultimate compliment that the Lynx can give to their fans. The fact that they bring it each and every time they hit the court at Target Center, says that they value the fans who have made it a priority to support the Lynx. It is always tough to win on the road in the WNBA, but this year especially so with the leagueís influx of talent. So protecting your home court will be absolutely critical as we move towards the playoffs. Plus, who doesnít love the great dancing that goes on after the game? I love that the rookies have jumped right into the post game ritual and, yes, they do have some rhythm! I have been working on the dance just in case they ever need an old broadcaster to join in!

SEEING SPARKS:

The WNBA schedule can be a little goofy sometimes where it feels like the only other team on the schedule is the LA Sparks. In a 12-day span we will have played the Sparks three times. There are some teams that really bring out my emotions when we battle them, and the Sparks are one of those teams. Iím not sure if itís the flashy LA style that gets this Minnesotan fired up but this rivalry has become one of my favorites. Last year we split a four game series with Los Angeles before sweeping them in the best-of-three Western Conference Finals. So far this season both teams have dominated on their home courts. The Lynx lost 87-59 on June 21 at LA then seven days later the Lynx crushed the Sparks 88-64 at Target Center. Last Tuesday the Sparks got revenge and beat us 96-66. See what I mean about home court advantage?

SPEAKING OF SPARKS...

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July. Iím already in a full scale panic over how quickly our very short and often wet summer is passing us by. So stay in the moment and enjoy every second!

NEXT LYNX GAME ON FOX Sports North:

Donít forget you can catch the Lynx on Sunday, July 7th on FSN. Marney Gellner and I will be breaking down the game for the viewers. Itís the return of the No. 1 draft pick Brittney Griner and her Phoenix Mercury. The Lynx knocked out Phoenix at home 99-79 on June 6 and picked up a win on the road against the Mercury 80-69. Donít go thinking that this will be an easy game for the Lynx. One can never underestimate Diana Taurasiís desire to win. Should be a great game, if I donít see ya there, donít forget to turn the game on -- itís a 6 p.m tip!
