Bio

After leading the Hurricanes in scoring as both as sophomore and junior, Riquna Williams is having another excellent season for Miami as a senior. Earlier this season, she became the fifth player in program history to surpass the 2,000-point barrier and her career scoring average (17.1 ppg) ranks T-9th in school history. This season has been more of the same for Williams, who ranks second on the Hurricanes with 16.2 points and 2.6 assists per game.

What the Lynx think

“An explosive player who can play both lead or shooting guard. An all ACC first team selection for the second year in a row. Very good pull up jumper from behind the arc. Best in the open court and creating off the dribble.”
- Shelley Patterson, Lynx Assistant Coach

What They're Saying

“Riquna ‘Bay-Bay’ Williams is one of the most electrifying players I've seen. She lit up then-No. 5 Maryland for 34 points this season. She can drive to the basket, and is also an outstanding 3-point shooter. She ranks third in the ACC with 16.2 ppg, but it's her energy and the promise of gigantic plays that make her so exciting to watch. She's also tough as nails, having grown up playing football as a kid. In fact, she wanted to play on the high school football team, but her mom didn't let her.”
- Michelle Kaufman, Miami Herald

“Williams is as pure a scorer as there is in this year's draft and her ability to be a productive scorer at the next level will come down to shot selection. However at 5'7", perhaps most important to her chances at having a successful pro career will be whether she can run an offense, if not becoming an efficient playmaker.”
- Nate Parham, SwishAppeal.com

"An excellent shooter who like her Miami teammate Shenise Johnson can put the ball in the basket scoring over 2,000 points in her career."
- Doug Feinberg, Associated Press

“Most explosive player in draft, athletic, fast, quicks, range and ability off the bounce. Deanna Nolan quicks in the league”
- Debbie Antonelli, National TV College Basketball Analyst
