Name: Tyra White
School: Texas A&M
School Bio: Tyra White
After missing all of her freshman season back due to injury in 2007-08, Tyra White has bounced back from the adversity and become a quality starter for the Aggies. Now a fifth-year senior, White is starting for her third consecutive year, averaging a team-best 13.5 points in 33.1 minutes per game, while ranking third on the team in rebounds (5.8 rpg) and fourth in assists (1.9 apg).
“A quick 6'0 forward who plays with great energy. Does a little bit of everything in a game. She’s most effective scoring inside the 3-point line. Solid rebounder at her position.”
- Cheryl Reeve, Lynx Head Coach
“This is a kid that has a big-time shot. She makes plays and she’s just steady. When you talk about consistency, Tyra never takes a bad shot. She’s a total team player.”
- Gary Blair, Texas A&M Head Coach
" White has been known to make big shots when the Aggies have needed it most and has a strong defensive pedigree. Although she's had a bit of a down year with more offensive responsibility, she is more than capable of contributing scoring and defense to a WNBA rotation."
- Nate Parham, SwishAppeal.com
"Has a knack for hitting big shots, just ask Notre Dame about last season's national title game.”
- Doug Feinberg, Associated Press
“Defense is there for the wnba, offense has great potential for work ethic and attitude.”
