Bio

One of just five players in program history to reach the 2,000-point mark, Shenise Johnson will graduate as one of the most prolific players in Hurricane history. She’s just 20 rebounds shy of becoming only the third player in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists, potentially joining Nicole Powell (Stanford, 2000-04) and Nancy Lieberman (1976-80). Johnson was selected by the Associated Press as one of five Preseason All-Americans, and her play this season has shown why. Johnson leads the ‘Canes in a number of major categories, including points (16.7 ppg), rebounds (8.0 rpg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (3.6 spg).

What the Lynx think

"A three-time All-ACC First Team and three-time All-ACC defensive team combo guard. Very good offensive player who can create for herself or create for others. Her ability to get to the the rim or pull up for the mid range jumper will be an asset when she becomes a pro."
- Shelley Patterson, Lynx Assistant Coach

What They're Saying

“Shenise Johnson is one of the most complete basketball players I have ever seen, and her stats back that up. She leads the ACC in scoring (16.7 ppg) and steals (3.6), No. 2 in FT Percentage (85 percent), No. 3 in assists (4.5) and No. 6 in rebounds (8 rpg). She is calm under pressure, extremely athletic, and very smart.”
- Michelle Kaufman, Miami Herald

“Although she hasn't gotten quite the fan fare of some other players in this draft class, Johnson might be the most productive all-around player in this draft class. Yet it's the things that don't quite show up in the statistics that set her apart: the ability to handle the ball and make the right decision in pressure situations, consistently being in the right place at the right time to extend possessions and shorten opponents' possessions, and the ability to defend multiple positions. There's very little that Johnson can't do on the court and that versatility makes her a strong prospect for the next level. “
- Nate Parham, SwishAppeal.com

"A flat out scorer. Will finish her career at Miami with over 2,200 points, 1000 rebounds and 500 assists, becoming third player ever to do so."
- Doug Feinberg, Associated Press

“Greatest asset is versatility, pass, shoot, handle, defends positions 1-3, quicks and IQ ready to go. Complete combo guard.”
- Debbie Antonelli, National TV College Basketball Analyst
