Name: Cierra Bravard
School: Florida State
School Bio: Cierra Bravard
The only player in Florida State history to rank in the top 10 over a career for scoring, rebounding, blocks and games, Cierra Bravard will leave Florida State this spring as a school legend. Bravard leads the Seminoles with 14.0 points per game on 54.0 percent shooting this season, her third consecutive season leading the ‘Noles in those categories, while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game. Perhaps most impressive, Bravard has appeared in every game during her collegiate career despite frequently getting fouled — she routinely ranks near the top of the ACC in free throw attempts.
“6'4 Center who is a big, strong low post presence who has had an impressive career as a Florida State Seminole. Bravard possesses quality post moves along with being a defensive presence for the Seminoles with her shot blocking and rebounding skills.”
- Cheryl Reeve, Lynx Head Coach
“She is so unique in having her size, her strength. But her intelligence about how to get the ball, what angles to have, (and) she’s a great finisher. I think she’s extremely special.”
- Sue Semrau, Florida State Head Coach
“She’s going to be a wanted woman in the WNBA.”
- Brooke Wyckoff, Former WNBA nine-year veteran and current FSU assistant coach
“Bravard leaves FSU as one of the program's top scorers and rebounders, and she's always been a strong defender down low. She is capable of a double-double on any given night, but Bravard needs to be more physical on the low post."
“Bravard was often double-teamed once the ball was tossed to her, and Bravard was forced to put up tough shots. But Bravard has made 71 percent of her free-throw attempts, so she's not a player that you send to the foul line lightly.”
- Bob Ferrante, Tallahassee Democrat
“Bravard is a very skilled post player, whose ability to pass the ball and score around the basket could make her a valuable contributor at the pro level.”
- Nate Parham, SwishAppeal.com
"Soft touch around the basket, shooting 54 percent from the field."
- Doug Feinberg, Associated Press
“Tough, competitive and high skill set around the rim. Lost weight beginning of season and put it back on, PNR but no PNP and doesn’t have high post playmaking skills. But, on the block will eventually demand a double because of her size and finishing abilities.”
