Houston Comets forward Sheryl Swoopes has been the leading vote-getter of the WNBA All-Star Game three of the game's four years. Swoopes registered the most fan votes in 2002, 2000 and 1999. In 2001, Swoopes missed the entire season with an ACL injury, and Washington forward Chamique Holdsclaw topped all players in votes. Fans vote for each conference's starters in the All-Star Game, and coaches pick the reserves.

USC forward Tina Thompson was the first No. 1 draft pick in WNBA history. Thompson, the Pacific-10's leading scorer, was the first overall pick by the Houston Comets in the inaugural WNBA Draft in 1997.
