Indiana forward Tamika Catchings, the 2002 WNBA Rookie of the Year, became the first player in league history to record 60 three-pointers and 80 steals in a season. Catchings was also the only player to earn WNBA Player of the Week honors twice in 2002 (June 3 and Aug. 12). She led all rookies in scoring (18.6 ppg), rebounding (8.6 rpg), three-point field goals (76), blocked shots (1.34 bpg) and minutes (36.4 mpg).

Did You Know?
New York guard Teresa Weatherspoon won the first two WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards (1997, 1998). Weatherspoon is the league's all-time leader in steals, with 425. Houston's Sheryl Swoopes joined her in 2002 as the only other two-time winner of the award. Swoopes also earned the honor in 2000.
