The Washington Mystics set a WNBA record for the highest average home attendance in 2002. The Mystics averaged 16,202 fans per game at the MCI Center, surpassing their own previous league record of 15,910 set in their 1998 inaugural season. Washington has led the league in attendance in four of the team's five seasons. A capacity crowd of 19,487 attended the 2002 WNBA All-Star Game at the MCI Center.
