Betty Lennox Mailbox Responses
"Hello, Betty! I am a 14-year-old high school basketball player. Basketball
is my life. I plan to go to a good college to play ball. What advice do you
have about basketball and being seen by scouts and colleges?"
Ja'Nay
Buffalo, NY
Hi, Ja'Nay. Don't worry about the scouts. Just go out there and play hard
every day. Focus on the basketball fundamentals: passing, dribbling and
shooting. Always be very coachable — listen to what your coach tells you.
Also, it's important to be a good teammate. When you go out on the
basketball court, play hard and be all you can be. If you do all of that,
there is a good chance that the scouts will hear about you and you'll be
seen. Thanks for writing, and have a blessed day!

Quote of the Week
"We are a veteran team, and leadership helps. The Lynx are a good team and
can make good runs. We forced them to take ill-advised shots with the shot
clock running down, and we tried to get them out of their rhythm."
—Los Angeles Sparks head coach Michael Cooper, following the Sparks' 62-60
victory over the Lynx at Target Center on June 9, 2001. Los Angeles earned
its seventh straight win over Minnesota by overcoming a 10-point deficit
with 13 minutes to play.
