WNBA Fact
In the five-year history of the WNBA, 42 players have scored 1,000 or more
points (including Lynx forward
Katie
Smith). Only one of those players has yet to make a three-point field
goal: Sacramento Monarchs center Yolanda Griffith. Griffith did not attempt
a three-point field goal during the 2001 or 2000 seasons. She is 0-for-4 in
three-point attempts in her U.S. professional career (93 WNBA games and 56
ABL games).

Betty Lennox Mailbox Responses
"Hi, Betty. Good luck in the upcoming season. I'm a high school senior who has
been playing varsity since my freshman year. I've started at the point guard
position all three years. I recently had to have a knee operation, and I
have been benched for the beginning of my senior year. How do I deal with
the disappointment of the news that I can't play, and what advice can you
give me to stay positive?"
Donnetta
Las Vegas, NV
Hi, Donnetta! Well, I can tell you what I went through last season. It was
very hard to stay positive, but I knew I had to. I did it by telling myself
that I would do whatever it took to get better so that I could help my team.
It was really tough because every time I watched the games, I was crying on
the inside. But I kept on doing what I had to do (rehabbing) to get back on
the court so I could help my teammates. So keep working hard and stay
positive! Thanks and God bless.

Quote of the Week
"I like her progress. She's willing to sacrifice. She takes the charges,
gets down on the floor. That's the kind of player we have to have. When I
think about from her rookie year to where she is now, she has made
tremendous strides."
—Lynx head coach Brian Agler, about center Maylana Martin following
Minnesota's game against New York on July 6, 2001.
